Literacy Conference: Bright Ideas for Summer Reading for School Administrators & Teachers

Where: ETV, 1041 George Rogers Blvd, Columbia SC 29201
Cost: Free and open Teachers and School Administrators
Register at: www.UWAY.org (Upcoming Events)

This six-hour literacy conference will provide innovative ideas for
integrating evidence-based reading instruction into Summer Reading Camps
and strengthening students’ phonemic awareness, systematic phonics,
fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension skills. Educators will gain
a vision for how to create a fun, engaging environment that is age
appropriate and systematically builds the confidence and skills of
struggling readers. We will present ideas for instruction in each of the
areas outlined by Proviso 1.84: Writing Workshop, Inquiry Research, and
Reading Workshop. The content will be specific to the Reading Camps, but
all of the concepts will also benefit elementary classroom teachers and
reading specialists.

Sponsors: United Way of the Midlands, USC-Augusta Baker Chair in Childhood
Literacy, Reach Out and Read, SC Literacy Task Force/SC Baptist
Convention, Logic of English.
